Nuisance Control

The Logan County Department of Public Health (LCDPH) Division of Environmental Health acts as the enforcing authority pertaining to nuisance issues which could affect the health and well-being of citizens of Logan County. Examples of nuisance conditions include, but are not limited to, improper garbage disposal and storage, abandoned pool/standing water (mosquito-breeding site), weeds and tall grass/non-maintained property (attracts animals, rodents and pests), abandoned refrigerator on a premises with attached doors (safety hazard), and improper sewage disposal. If you witness a nuisance condition which poses a public health and/or safety concern, you are encouraged to contact the LCDPH Division of Environmental Health at 217-735-2317.

The Logan County Nuisance Ordinance legally authorizes the LCDPH, as health authority, to conduct regulatory and enforcement activities to control nuisance conditions within its jurisdiction. Per Section VIII, the ordinance is applicable to only unincorporated areas of Logan County. Please note this means if you have a nuisance concern which occurs within an incorporated village boundary, you must address the issue with the village. However, nuisance issues occurring within unincorporated areas of Logan County will be addressed or regulated by the LCDPH as required in the Ordinance. If you have questions, you can contact the LCDPH Division of Environmental Health.
